CII

Christiansburg Industrial Institute

The historic Christiansburg Industrial Institute (CII) was the first high school in Southwest Virginia to educate the formerly enslaved. CII operated as a regional secondary school for African Americans from across the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond for a century.

Juneteenth 2023: Black Empowerment, Joy & Legacy will be hosted on site of the historic campus of CII, located in Montgomery County, Virginia.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Juneteenth this year, on the sacred land of CII, in remembrance of the generations that came before - and the many gathered here now pushing forward, together, for justice today.

Thank you to our event partners!
